Brought to you by Brick Lane Brewing, Rebel on Tour gives fans a fresh look at what our Melbourne Rebels are getting up to whilst away on tour.

This week’s guest is Campbell Magnay.

Week 7 on the road – what’s your experience been like so far?

The experience has been great with not much to complain about. The Billy Meakes Tuesday Trivia nights have been great for team camaraderie and with elite prizes. I really enjoy the competitiveness too.  I am yet to be on a winning team but as you know, we are only as good as the weakest link - Pup (Matt To’omua).

Who’s been your road trip roommate?

My road trip roommate is Marika Koroibete. So far, he’s been a good roommate - clean and considerate unless he has his fellow Fijians over. He does on occasions yell out “no” in his sleep late at night.

Who’s been the funniest teammate on tour so far?

Andrew Kellaway! He’s obsessed with Tick Tok and can do all the dances to a majority of the songs. A few boys have happened to walk in on him, shirt off, practising in front of the mirror.

What does Campbell Magnay get up to on his days off?

I’ve gone straight to the surf shop in Terrigal and got myself a wetty (wet suit) and an esky lid (body board). Very good for recovery unless you get caught in the rip. Tough on the shoulders the following day.

I understand there’s been a few (heated) table tennis games at the team’s hotel – who’s been the most impressive and who’s been the worst?

Cabous (Eloff) would have to be the best. He has such outstanding movement around the table for a big unit. Reece Hodge would be close to the worst and is overly confident.

If I was the game day DJ, I would play?

I would play my rehab playlist because I know it would get a few lads who were there with me really fired up for the game!

I understand you have a message for the people of Melbourne?

Yeah all of us here at the Melbourne Rebels are thinking of everyone back in Victoria and we really hope to make you all proud for the rest of the season.
