The Wallabies have confirmed the makeup of their Off-Field Staff for the upcoming international season, revealing the inclusion of three Rebel staff members in Dave Rennie’s new look support team.

Rebels forwards coach Geoff Parling, S&C coach Shane Lehane and physio Dan Mannix will be fitted out in Wallaby Gold this week after joining the national setup in Sydney.

The trio will join nine Rebels players in camp in an environment that will have them feeling right at home.

For Parling, the appointment caps a remarkable rise in the coaching ranks after transitioning from player to coach three years ago.

“I’ve really enjoyed helping develop the players we’ve had in Melbourne, so to now get the opportunity to join Dave’s coaching team for this Test season is a real honour," said the former British & Irish Lion.

“There is some great talent here, but we won’t get anywhere without hard work. I have high expectations of the group and am looking forward to seeing them rip in.”

Melbourne Rebels CEO Baden was quick to acknowledge the achievements of Parling, Lehane and Mannix.

“It’s always pleasing to see your people acknowledged and rewarded with higher honours – be that players or staff,” said Stephenson.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to spend three months on the road with Geoff, Shane and Dan during our Super Rugby AU campaign, and I know the Wallabies will be blessed with some of most dedicated and smartest rugby brains currently working in Australia.”

The arrangement will see the three staff members seconded into the national setup for the duration of the 2020 Wallaby season, before returning to Melbourne ahead of the 2021 preseason.

“This recognition is a great reflection on our rugby program that has been well led by Dave Wessels,” said Stephenson.

“The experience they will take away from the international rugby environment will be really valuable and I know they will contribute to a winning Wallabies campaign."
