Victorian, Trevor Hosea, has extended his time with the Rebels for at least another two years.

The Melbourne Rebels are excited to today announce the re-signing of Trevor Hosea.

The in-form Lock put pen to paper this week and will now remain a Melbourne Rebel until the end of 2023 including the Rugby World Cup.

Hosea’s contract extension caps off an impressive start to the 2021 season for the Harlequin Rugby Club product, who last month was named in the extended 40-man Wallabies training squad.

Hosea has started in seven of the Rebel’s appearances this year and has been an integral part of their forward line up, finishing third overall for lineout’s won in Super Rugby AU and this week Hosea was named in the Super Rugby AU team of the season.

“I’m born and bred here, I love playing for the Rebels, so re-signing was an obvious choice for me. I’m in a really good place at the moment with my rugby and to come home and play in front of my friends and family last month after such a long time was something I won’t forget for a long time, we’re building something exciting here,” he added.

Hosea, a Rebels Academy player who hails from Narre Warren in Victoria, attended Fountain Gate Secondary School, represented Australia in the Under 20’s World Cup in 2018 and 2019, starting at lock in every match, including the sides one-point loss in the final.

“Trevor’s contract extension is fantastic news for our Club. Trevor’s growth as a player and person over the last 18 months has been significant and has been a pleasure to watch. Our Club is very proud of Trevor and it will be a very special moment for the whole rugby community in Victoria when he makes his Wallaby debut,” Melbourne Rebels CEO, Baden Stephenson said.

The Melbourne Rebels play the Auckland Blues at AAMI Park on Saturday May 15 at 7:45 PM in Round One of the Trans-Tasman competition. The clash will be shown live and on demand on Stan Sports AU
