The Melbourne Rebels have completed their 2022 Member and Fan Research report to improve member satisfaction and engagement for the upcoming 2023 Super Rugby Pacific and Super W seasons.

The project focused on the measurement of members and fans’ attitudes and behaviours based on the 2022 seasons.

Melbourne Rebels CEO Baden Stephenson said the Club was focused on re-engaging with members and fans after a tough pandemic period.

“The 2022 Super Rugby Pacific and Super W seasons were our first full seasons back at home for two years, so it was a learning experience for a large portion of our players and staff,” he said.

“Hearing from the members and fans the last few weeks has been crucial to our planning for the upcoming 2023 seasons, and we can’t thank them enough for their participation.”

The survey asked members and fans about a variety of topics including:

  • Performance of membership products and services
  • Overall satisfaction and renewal intentions
  • Consumption levels and communication preferences
  • Game-day experience and effectiveness of marketing and promotions
  • Sponsor recall and recognition and attitudes for members and fans
  • Other sporting interests and activities undertaken by fans and members

The Club has reviewed all of the information received, paying particular attention to improving areas that had low satisfaction, to ensure members and fans keep coming back to The Stockade and engaging with the Club.

In addition to this survey, the Club recently held its members’ forum where members were encouraged to engage with the Rebels CEO Baden Stephenson, GM of Rugby Nick Stiles, and Head Coach Kevin Foote.

Key changes that are already underway for members and supporters are:

  • The Club has implemented a new merchandise fulfilment system for 2023; it will allow for more choice than ever and arrive quickly
  • We will have both physical and digital ticketing options in 2023

As part of the feedback received at the member forum, the Club will be launching its first-ever Member Subcommittee. The initiative shapes as the first of its kind in Australian rugby and will provide Rebels members with the exclusive opportunity to have their voices heard and represented on a regular basis.
