It’s the end of the year! You know what that means? New Year’s Resolutions!

To help with your goal setting in 2022, we’ve brought in Rebels’ star and Elite Performance Journals creator, Cameron Orr, on how to establish the most effective goal setting blueprints!

Tell us about Elite Performance Journals and how did the idea come about?

“Sparked out from the middle of COVID, I developed a passion for coaching and helping others, and some mindset stuff.”

“I then started developing with a friend of mine, a playbook journal that can help teams grow their culture, strengthen accountability and synchronise team and individual growth that’s so crucial to a Club’s culture, its high-performance systems, and its ability to maximise opportunities, resources and build something special.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be around high-performance environments for a number of years and interact with a number of people who live high-performance minute by minute, day by day.

“Learning and absorbing their hard work has really inspired me to get this idea off the ground.

"It’s slowly building momentum, which has been really exciting from a personal standpoint.”

What advice can you provide for setting realistic goals in the New Year?

“The main thing for me is making sure you know your long-term goal first up and then dividing it into small term goals and attacking them, and finding a process that gets you there and then refining it, continually.”

“That’s where journaling and reviewing your goals on a weekly basis can be effective. Working hard but also smart and tactical and utilising the resources around you to take the best possible path.

“Looking at that long term goal achieves incentive but attaining those short-term goals builds momentum and self-efficacy.”

What goals are you setting for yourself in 2022?

“I’ve got a number of things I’ve outlined in my plan over the next few years.”

“I want to make the leap up to international rugby and I don’t want to just be a part of it – I want to be one of the guys who can put his best foot forward and do his part. I have big aspirations there and especially next year having a big season for the Rebels and experiencing success here.

“We’ve got a great group of people who are aspirational and that’s the biggest driver for me – like-minded people driven to get the best out’ve themselves and each other.

“Outside of rugby, just continuing my path to become the best well-rounded person I can be and preparing for life after playing.”
