The dawn of a new academy season is upon us.
The Shaw and Partners U18 Rebels Academy will play their first match of 2023 with a Saturday afternoon clash against academy rivals, the ACT Brumbies.
Kicking off at 1:30 pm, the clash will take place at Harlequins Rugby Club as part of a Super Saturday of Victorian rugby.
Shaw and Partners U18 Rebels Academy Head Coach, Cliff Viliamu, has named a strong match day 23 for the season opener, spearheaded by outside centre, Jozef Ah Kuoi, who will captain the side.
Pairing with Inoke Pauta in the midfield, the duo will combine with talented back three Andrew Mulipola, Christian Lealofi and Vice-Captain William Toohey, while Jakim Ngatoko and Jackson Jury have been named in the halves.
The Rebels’ dual Vice-Captain, Wyatt Ballenger, will combine with Xander Iosefo and Corey Leumaga-chan to form an exciting backrow, with Xaiver Treacy and Caleb Fanolua Tusitala leading the second row.
Carter Tagaloasa, Poe Ah Ki and Paul Aiolupotea have been selected in the front row.
Komi Lester Tuitea, Dante Siale, Tavake Hehea, Sam Fangatua and Mapu Fiso will provide late game impact for the forwards, with Louis Treacy, PJ Lelei and Malachi Olago rounding out the Rebels opening match day 23.
