Biography

Andrew Deegan is a skilful fly half who joins the Melbourne Rebels from the Western Force for the 2020 Super Rugby season.

Deegan was born and raised in Sydney and attended St Joseph's College in Hunter's Hill and has represented the NSW U20 side on several occasions, including the back-to-back national championships in 2013-14. Deegan has also represented Australia at U20s level in 2015.

The young fly half made just two appearances for Connacht before returning to Australia to join the Western Force, where he became a star for the Global Rapid Rugby side, before signing with the Melbourne Rebels for the 2020 Super Rugby season.

Highlights

2016

The halfback was part of the NSW Country Eagles side that made the 2016 NRC Final, while also being the highest points scorer in the Shute Shield for Randwick. Deegan joined the Waratahs in the 2016 pre-season as part of the development squad and was promoted to the supplementary squad in 2016.

2017

In August, Deegan made the switch to the Northern Hemisphere and played for Irish Pro 14 side Connacht for the 2017-18 season.

2018

Deegan returned to Australia following a stint with Connacht, signing for the Western Force as a Global Rapid Rugby player. Deegan was also a prominent feature in the Force's NRC campaign. 

2019

After another season of leading the Force to the Global Rapid Rugby title, Deegan produced a brilliant individual season for the WA side in the NRC. On the way to becoming an NRC Champion with the Force, Deegan led the competition for total points (69), successful conversion (28) and assists (7).

Deegan's impressive performances helped him land his first Super Rugby contract, signing with the Melbourne Rebels for the 2020 Super Rugby season.
