Esei Haangana is a hulking young lock who looms as future first choice second rower for the Melbourne Rebels.
Hailing from Sydney, Ha'angana made a name for himself at Randwick RFC in the Shute Shield and as an Australian Schoolboys squad member in 2016, before being signed as a 17 year-old by the Melbourne Rebels.
As Haangana enters his fourth year of Super Rugby, the imposing young forward will look to build on his seven Super Rugby appearances as he strives for more game time in 2020.
Haangana became the Melbourne Rebels youngest ever Super Rugby debutant at 18 years and 15 days when he came off the bench against the Lions at AAMI Park in 2017, and would go on to appear in five matches for the Club in his debut season.
While Haangana did not register a Super Rugby game in 2018, the then 19-year-old received his first Junior Wallabies selection for both the U20 Oceania Championship and U20 World Championship.
In 2019, Haangana was selected in the Rebels' opening round side against the Brumbies as a replacement lock, but did not play. Haangana then earned his first minutes in two years off the bench in Round 7 against the Reds, before earning another match against the Stormers.
Haangana was then selected for the Junior Wallabies squad to tour Argentina for the World Rugby U20 Championships, and was a replacement forward in Australia's one-point loss the France in the Final.
