Rob Leota is a Victorian born and bred lock, hailing from the Northern Panthers Rugby Union Club.

Leota was a key member of the 2015 Australian Men’s Youth Sevens team that won silver medal at the 2015 Youth Commonwealth Games.

The tournament gave Rob a taste of what International Rugby can offer and once again he was named in the 2016 Australian U20s squad for the World Rugby U20s Championship in Manchester.

May 2016 saw Leota link up with a Rebels, signing on until the year 2019.

He made his debut in late 2016 against the Crusaders in Christchurch.

2017 and 2018 failed to see Leota add to his sole game in 2016, due to a myriad of injuries sustained.

2019 proved to be a breakout year for the young lock however, with Leota playing 13 games to become a key reserve flanker for the Rebels. Leota achieved his first Super Rugby start in Round 4 as a blindside flanker, and was even entrusted with starting at number eight in Round 14 against the Bulls. Leota capped off a brilliant year by resigning with the Rebels until the end of 2021.
