Throughout the 2023 season, a group of loyal and committed Melbourne Rebels members with over 50 years of combined membership experience have been working alongside the Club’s management to provide a real-time sounding board on decision-making affecting members and supporters.

After the successful 2022 Members Forum, the Club put a call out for members to participate in an inaugural Rebels Membership Reference Committee (RMRC) to provide direct feedback to the Club’s leadership.

A diverse range of passionate Rebels members from across Australia volunteered to participate before six were eventually selected to form the committee in support of the Chair, Vere Longmore, who initially proposed the concept at the 2022 Forum.

Drawing from his professional career, Longmore brought years of his own committee experience to lead a group that was enthusiastic to see the Rebels offer the best possible fan experience.

"Members and community are what makes this club special. Through the RMRC, we, as members and supporters, can play an active role in ensuring the success of the club and the code in Victoria.” Longmore said.

Melbourne Rebels GM of Consumer and Marketing, Rachel Mitrione, said the committee provided an invaluable sounding board.

“A professional sporting club can't exist without its members and incorporating a member voice in club decision-making and business planning, ensures we, as management, can continue to deliver for our members and the broader rugby community in Victoria,” Mitrione said.

“With a fast and fearless resolute playing style on-field in 2023, the Club has seen an increase in membership numbers and matchday attendance, so having our committee being able to shape the experience for this audience as we continue to grow has been priceless.”
