The Shaw and Partners Melbourne Rebels Under-18 academy have named their side for this Saturday’s clash with the Brumbies academy in Canberra.

Rebels Head Coach, Cliff Viliamu, has made two changes to last weekend’s starting XV with Vaiala Junior Kilisi named at scrumhalf, while Steven Ngata will start at outside centre.

The Rebels will run out for their third game in just ten days after back-to-back matches against the Western Force and Queensland Reds academy last week.

Following an improved effort against the Reds, Rebels Captain Leafi Talataina, was confident about his side’s chances heading into tomorrow’s match.

“When we trust in our shape, structure and most importantly, trust each other to get the job done, we play some solid footy,” Talataina

“The mood this last week has only gone up and it comes down to us as a team wanting to perform better every game.

“Even at training everyone’s zoned in – we’re just been looking to build and grow.

“Makes no difference to me whether we play away or home the games still rugby.

“I’m just excited about the chance we must show the type of footy Victoria has to offer.”

Saturday shapes as a day to remember for Melbourne Rebels fans, with three games involving the Rebels to be played over eight action packed hours.

The day kicks off with James Tuttle, Reece Hodge, and Matt Gibbon leading Australia A out for the national side’s first game since 2008, before Andrew Kellaway, Matt Philip and Rob Leaota do battle with England in the Wallabies opening test of the 2022 international season.

The Shaw and Partners Melbourne Rebels Under-18 academy face the Brumbies academy at Brumbies Oval at the University of Canberra starting at 1 PM AEST. Unfortunately, the match won’t be televised.
